A Butterfly Flutter - August 3, 2008

08-04-08
Hej. [Hello (Swedish)]

Much thought concerning the Butterfly Effect has been on my mind. There is a Ray Bradbury short story that I read in high school. It is about a man that travels back in time and changes the future by accidentally stepping on a butterfly. There is a more poetic statement of this story by Edward Lorenz that states, “Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil set off a Tornado in Texas?” The thought that the smallest thing can change the future is powerful. Every breath we take affects our entire existence. Every move that we make affects our neighbor and vice versa.

In meditation, I feel this connection. It is a fiber that is woven at the smallest level. The life force emanates from everything like rays of the sun. This allows me to see these rays connecting at some point. As you can see, your life force is connected to ours :-)

We feel blessed to have the gift of music. It allows us to connect with all of you at so many levels. Thank you for allowing us in.

Keep fluttering,
RE

"New" - July 4, 2007

07-04-07
E kú àmójúbà Yoruba (West Africa, after long absence) Welcome back.

These days there has been much talk about new beginnings. What better way to start than on July 4th, one of the greatest beginnings in the history of the world.

I read a great quote by Eugene F. Ware that put it quite eloquently: “All glory comes from daring to begin.” I meditated on this and a great dream came to me. I was standing on a dock. I proceeded to board a boat. At first, the boat rocked back and forth, until I found my balance. Then all was calm, and I felt a serenity take over me. I then pointed my boat towards a distant shore and sailed off. Many beginnings are like this. We leave what was once solid ground to begin a new journey.

“New” is quite difficult for some people. It may be a new job, a new house, a new career, a new life, etc. I commend all those that have pointed their boats towards a new shore. Life is truly for the brave. “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones”.--Chinese proverb. As humans, we love attachment, so much that it hurts when we have to move on.

Sometimes “new” appears to be thrusted upon us. I have found that in this case, “new” comes because we have completed a phase in our lives and it is time to move on. To quote Mike, “everything is perfectly placed.” Every detail belongs in our life. With every new beginning we add color to our life canvas.

The key is in finding our balance.

See you on the next shore,
RE
